Style soulmates! Elyce Arons sat down with one to celebrate the release of her memoir, We might just be able to make itwhich describes her friendship and business partnership with late Kate Spade When they built the named fire, Kate Spade, together.
Arons, co-founder and CEO of Frances Valentine, who was also co-created with a spade before the designer died in KL Age 55 in June 2018Shared the top fashion advice she and spade exchanged.
“Our personal style wasn’t always on line, especially when we first met. Katy had a much more traditional, preppy style, and mine was more trend -driven and always tried to emulate the latest appearance in magazines,” Arons admits.
While the duo was originally drawn to various hits, they eventually mixed their unique senses of fashion to create timeless clothing.
“It was fun to learn from each other. … We really found the most inspiration from vintage and really tied up with our love for vintage shopping and searching for treasures that we both appreciated and could afford,” she wastes.
Spades favorite finds: “Katy beloved colorful and joy-kicking pieces, whether vintage or new. She always appreciated pieces with excellent design and good quality.”
“We could imagine the story behind every piece and think of the woman who had owned it,” Aarons adds.
Some of these style icons included stars that Mary Tyler MooreAli McGraw, Kathryn Hepburn and Jackie Onassis before A-Lists like Gwyneth PaltrowAt Mary Kate and Ashley OlsenAt Mindy Kalingand Taylor Swift were stained in their design.
“We loved when celebrities chose to carry our bags, but for us it was the All-Woman bag. Buying a Kate Spade bag was a passage of the passage for so many young women who entered the workforce,” the author explains.
And the original Kate Spade purses from the 1990s still hold up today.

As for what you can never go wrong with? “A crispy white shirt or 10-a pair of black cigarette pants-or a go-to swing coat, ditch or jacket in a funny print or color, a fantastic pair of jeans and a fabulous dress that makes you feel like a million attenuation,” Arons stands up.
