You’ve read a lot about MacOS 26 -Interface this summer, but it’s not just menus and buttons that will be different on Mac later in the year. Apple benefits from the liquid glass introduction to bring some new icon design to the Mac to help give macOS a fresh look. You may have seen some of them on social media posts, but for many users the differences will be shoveling.
If you are the type that primarily makes graphic identifications while looking around at your Mac, some of the icons may throw away because Apple made a drastic change. Other icons will be instantly recognizable – you may not even notice a difference unless you have to take care. In many cases, the icons are simpler and have less character than they did before.
Here are 21 examples of Apple apps that have new icons. In all of the images below, the icon on the left is from MacOS Sequoia and the icon on the right is from MacOS Tahoe Beta.
