Hunting! Marketplace Los Angeles has become a designer vintage port for celebrities like Chris Brown. Ddg. Gunnaand more, and founder Charlie Shanfeld Sat down with one to share exactly how he tracks their conversation that started styles.
For starters, the stylist, 26, focuses on collecting a mix of luxury, pre-loved and exclusive sought after items in his Los Angeles, California-based store that opened in 2023.
“The store blends advanced fashion with the 90s vintage aesthetics. … It’s almost like going through an art gallery, but instead of paintings and sculptures, the space is filled with carefully curated, one-to-one-stroke clothing,” he shares .
“I want to make sure my inventory not only reflects the current trends, but also carries a sense of nostalgia and authenticity,” Shanfeld continues.
Think: statement clothing and accessories from Chrome Hearts, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, Enfants Riches Déprimés, Carhartt and Marketplace Los Angeles’ own branded collection, all set in an atmosphere that mixes fashion, culture and art together.
And the business owner is determined to grab these rare treasures that come from far and wide.
“We source our inventory globally by taking advantage of relationships with brands and private collectors that give us access to limited releases and one-to-one goods. We also handle vintage pieces from trusted suppliers and private sellers around the world,” he explains .
As for what is grabbing his attention? “A piece stands out for me when it has a combination of uniqueness, quality and storytelling.”

In addition, Shanfeld notes the importance of the quality and state of his sparse collector’s objects.
“I appreciate material and craftsmanship and look for heavy weight cotton, premium leather, expert faded denim and well -constructed pieces with durability.”

“The shopping experience with celebrity clients is about exclusivity, efficiency and personalization.… while others send their stylists to draw marks, ”he corrects.
