Our judgment
Eset Home Security Premium ends its primary task with antiviral and malware prevention, and there is an excellent level of adjustment, but several bugs need to be corrected and key features such as password administrator and encryption tool that is supposed to be in ESET HOME SECURITY Premium. The password administrator, even if it is available, must still be downloaded from the Mac App Store.

Sometimes an app can take care of the big image items, but shoot itself in both feet by going for the smaller things. A year of development can also take care of a bigger question, but still leave others unresolved. This is the case with ESET Home Security (available in important, premium and ultimate configurations), developed by Slovakian Software Company Eset, a long -lasting device in the software security world.
We looked at ESET Home Security Premium, which offers extensive antiviral and malware protection, real-time file system protection, a password manager, an encryption tool and other features in June 2024, and we will update that review now in June 2025 to see if the ESET has processed any of our criticism from that time. To see how ESET is compared to other Mac antiviruses in our round of the best antivirus for Mac.
The software is downloading and installing clean from ESET’s website and it is easy enough to create a 30-day sample with only an email address and no credit or debit card needed.
Eset Home Security Premium Retails for Different Price points considering the number of devices that are installed on and the number of years you have signed up for $ 59.99/£ 44.99 for a unit for one year and scaling up from there (pricing options can be found on ESET’s site. Smartphones and tablets, but not iOS).
Once the software is installed, permissions have been granted to allow its background features to occur in macOS, allowing third-party extensions to be enabled on Apple Silicon M1, M2, M3 or M4-based MACs, give full access to the entire hard drive and you are out of the races.
Go over to the Settings menu on a Mac and there is a significant amount that can be done. The application allows you to create changes such as blacklists and whitenlists, different levels of detection and sensitivity, access to logs and proxy servers, reactions to new quantities mounted, and an impressive level of customization.

Scheduled scans can be easily set and it is pretty simple to identify which areas of a local or cloud -based drive are scanned and when. Updated software versions can also be rolled back manually as needed, and a “Submit a Sample” feature allows you to send suspected files to ESET to study at their end, which is interesting.
Where the actual virus and malware-based protection is concerned, this becomes a mixed bag, although the software keeps its own. Between MacOS ‘gatekeeper function and Eset’s protective layer, there was not much malware that could be installed, and Eset’s original scan was able to locate and quarantine suspected files without recognition of what it had done or incident. Eset Home Security Premium Premium Premium Premium Caratinate suspected files when they emerged, and while it let the difficult Adwind Malware and a fake copy of Adobe Flash Player through, it was able to stop the lion’s share of suspected software in its track.

Some bugs have been fixed since last year’s review, and driving scan times have been noticeably improved, while the planning feature is now activating scans as promised. Lack of a status bar or the course of time reading during a scan is annoying, but the software is now uninstalling properly.
The Password Manager feature is still available only via an app downloaded via the Mac App Store, the encryption features still appear to be missing, and the ESET Home app seems to be nowhere to be found in the US Mac App Store.
In his honor, it is easy enough to scan a target volume, perform background tasks during a scan and customize settings where you want them to be, but when critical elements of the advertised software appear to be missing, then it is time for the developers to really smash their brains against their desks and look over what has been advertised and what has been delivered.
Eset’s phishing protection seems to be minimal as the software enabled me to visit questionable sites linked to the suspects/phishing -e emails that jump up into my gmail’s unwanted directory without any warning.

While Eset Home Security Premium is completing its primary task with antiviral and malware prevention, more bugs still need to be corrected. Yes, there is an excellent level of customization and scanning speeds have improved. But when features that the planner or phishing protection does not seem to work, and key features such as the promised password administrator and encryption tools are missing, alarm bells need to ring and the company has to place some focus on the Mac version of their business, go through the checklist and see if the product really delivers what has been advertised.
Is this worth a free 30-day trial? Of course, and you’re more than welcome to take it for a spin. Still doing other applications better without errors and headaches, and they are more worthy of your time, attention and annual subscription fee.
